Do yourself a favor and get a router. This way you can connect more than one after the other in touch. How are you now is that the modem is issuing a new IP address. You can start with a power cycle the modem or enter the computer and run an update to the IP address.

Under the assumption that "an Ethernet cable, a cable from your cable or DSL connection ...
The best method is to a router, to teach, as stated above.

If you have more than two ports RJ-45/ethernet on your PC, you can
try something clever, like the configuration of Windows ICS and
Windows network bridge. Only a real tightwad or
someone with some real hardware limitations
to consider doing so.

If a cable, then it will not be enough to fill two teams. You have to get anothe cable or buy a router.

If your computer is configured to connect to the Internet over cable and IP settings for DHCP or static. You can see it in your Network Connections, Local Area Connection: Right-click and select "Properties." Scroll down and double-click Internet Protocol (TCP / IP). 2. The PC must be solved in the same manner as the first. If 1 is static, you can try the 2 a number higher or lower than the 1 Record.
