A pool of 40,000 gallons, required by the gentle method for the treatment of bathing water of about 10 pounds of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to alkalinity and pH value corresponding to the beginning of the maintenance season. What is the original norm of sodium bicarbonate in the water of the pool?

Molarity is moles / L ...

NaHCO3 pounds and have gallons of water.

convert pounds to Mole .... NaHCO3 and then take the volume of water = volume of the solution .... then convert gallons to liters ...

£ 10 NaHCO3 x (454 g / 1 kg) x (1 mol NaHCO 3 / 84.0 g NaHCO 3) = 54.0 mol of NaHCO3

X 40.000 gallons (1000 L / gal 264.17) = 1.51x10 ^ 5 L

Molarity if = 54.0 mol / L 1.51x10 ^ 5 = 3.57x10 ^ -4 M
